Scientist, Caterer

H I S T O R Y
After an explosion that destroyed his scientific company, and one that gave him his amazing metallic powers, Mark Spires found himself in hiding and on the run from a shadowy government agency. Ending up in Seattle, he crossed paths with Forte and somehow became a super-hero, and almost immediately helped to save the Earth from the Saoshyant invasion from space. He became one of Forte's most famous and beloved heroes, being right at the center of many of the world- (and universe-) saving moments in their history, and ended up as team leader when older members left and new ones appeared. He eventually cleared his name (as Mark Spires) and took his life back, and tried to rebuild his relationship with the daughter that he'd left behind, Bree...particularly when his ex-wife was killed as a result of an auto accident. After years of Forte service, he retired and married private investigator Erin O'Day and left heroing behind to raise his daughter. But when asked, years later, by Mist to join a new hero team of hers to save the city of San Francisco, he could no longer hide from his responsibilities as Anvil, and reluctantly agreed to become both a member and her second-in-command.

A B I L I T I E S
Anvil has the ability to transform his skin into near-impenetrable metal, and the transformation also give him remarkable strength. While in his metal form, Anvil does not need to breathe. He's a seasoned hero with years of combat experience, a pilot, a scientist, and a master chef to boot.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Anvil is unpretentious and a bottom-line type of individual, always looking for the best solution no matter how unorthodox it may seem. A creative thinker with a wry (and sometimes inappropriate) sense of humor, and with a temper that simmers below his usual calm and rational demeanor, Anvil is forward-thinking, wise, practical and family-oriented, always thinking of his daughter, Bree, after years of not being able to be in her life. She lives near him and his wife, Erin, in San Francisco, and he balances his Forge duties carefully with his family life.
