Words and News from Yer Central Mailer for CTO #30

Hey, what do you know? It's the second decade for the CTO! Welcome to the Tens, y'all! Hope everyone had a fantastic New Year's!

Cover Lovin’

David Enciso returns with yet another triumphant cover for the 'Times. This time it features the character of Guardienne. I'd tell you more about her, but that'd be spoiler for some current 'Times stuff. So for the full story, be sure to read everybody's zines!

THE HEART OF THE MATTER

Our best wishes and get-well-soons go out to the 'Times own Jack Butler, who managed to have himself a minor heart attack last month and end up in the hospital for a few days. Jack says he's home and recovering well. So if you've noted Jack doesn't have a submission in this time around? Um...Jack's excused. Get better quick, Mr. B., and we look forward to seeing new Butlerverse stuff when you're back on your game.

THE BIG FIVE!

Holy smokes! Did anyone else notice that next issue marks the five-year anniversary of the Clobberin' Times Online?! That went fast, didn't it? Thanks to all the gang for cranking out such awesome stuff, bi-month after bi-month. Go ahead, take a look back at the past issues, and look back at all you've accomplished! You rock, Online 'Timers! Let's party it up next issue, and get ready to head toward our ten-year!

OH, SURE...LAUGH AT THE GUY IN THE WHEELCHAIR

Your own illustrious Central Mailer (that's me) took an interesting career turn last month when he ended up entering an open mic comedy contest at a local Sacramento club. He ended up winning, and is currently awaiting the finals in the competition coming up this month, and has performed several times since (and will be doing so this next week as well at a couple different places). He's found his love for stand-up, and plans to see how far he can go with this new hobby. As a side note, he also really enjoys talking about himself in the third person. It's a habit he picked up on Facebook.

FORTE REUNION...KIND OF!

We had ourselves a little impromptu Forte reunion here during the holidays. Turned out Forte Godfather K.C. was in town, staying with his family down in the bay area, and got himself a day open to come visit. So I was able to rustle up Tim (Phantasm), Randy (Anvil) and Jim (Tomarssuk) for a little get-together at my place. That was, after K.C. and I hit the local In n Out Burgers so K.C. could get his west coast fix. We all had a great time hanging out and catching up. No time for gaming, sadly, but maybe next time.

Next Issue Deadline

Deadline for the next CTO issue is April 3, 2010, for inclusion in the April 4, 2010 issue. Just put your stuff on a web page (or in a PDF) and e-mail the link (or the file) to me at:

O'Connell@aol.com

Winters almost done, folks, to take heart--you'll be able to store those shovels soon enough. Here's hoping for warm weather sooner than later (stupid groundhog...), and that 2010 ends up being the year that all your dreams come true. Let's get this decade started right!
