Words and News from Yer Central Mailer for CTO #27

Good-bye, Mr. Summer.

That sad, final 'Times update of the summer is upon us, when we realize that the next time we meet, it'll be well into fall. But we've still got a month left of good weather, and a couple of summer movies left. So let's look on the sunny side and enjoy it as much as we can before we all have to go out and get ourselves new school clothes and Trapper Keepers...

Cover Lovin’

The amazing David Enciso returns to the 'Times to bring us a shot of Cobalt Girl, an upcoming Forte Universe character, part of the world of the new "FourStar" team (but not ON the team), the teen side of the modern Forte experience. And you'll be reading about that in exactly...one of these days.

A Year Without a Clobberin'-Con

Sadly, this was a year with almost no Clobberin' representation at Comic-Con in San Diego, so the event went by with no official "Clobberin' Con" designation on it. Ben and Kaye did manage to drive up from L.A. and catch a couple of panels, but none of the rest of us made it. But the good news is, there's never been a better time to to NOT be at the Con, coverage-wise. I was able to keep up via text updates from our friend Tony who was there (along with photos), liveblogs, message boards, Twitter feeds, plus coverage all over G4's web site and channel. And since the Con has gone so Hollywood, also plenty of daily updates in major news venues. I kind of felt like I WAS there, in some ways, which was nice. Took some of the sting out.

But it's got me motivated to make sure not to miss next year - the 20th anniversary Clobberin' Con! Start planning now, everyone, and let's see how many people we can get to make it to this sucker. I want to make this one one for the ages. Tip - get your tickets in FEBRUARY. This is not a joke. This year's tix all sold out during the winter. Plan ahead, and let's rock this joint Clobberin' style!

Next Issue Deadline

Deadline for the next CTO issue is October 3, 2009, for inclusion in the October 4, 2009 issue. Just put your stuff on a web page (or in a PDF) and e-mail the link (or the file) to me at:

O'Connell@aol.com

See you next time, when we'll know for sure whether G.I. Joe ended up stinking up the joint...
